Miles (Work in Progress)
The film is nearing completion, with only the need to fix some visual issues, and await the completion of our original score.
Miles is five minute animated short that I had the pleasure to have a large part in bringing to reality. I began work as a lead environment artist, leading a small team to build the first environment in the film, the mall.
Once completed, I began setting up the lighting and rendering workflow as the sole lighter. Knowing in a few months I would have other lighters to lead, I devoted myself to ensuring we had a robust pipeline, ensuring a smooth flow of work from the animators, to lighting, rendering, and compositing. In this time I built the Maya and Nuke templates for all other members to eventually use.
The addition of three talented lighters was when the the project began to really to come together. It was a fantastic leading opportunity, where there was plenty of work to delegate, issues to resolve, and decisions to make. Besides managing the team, the role of lead lighter included the development of key lighting for shots across the film, pipeline management, tool development, and final color correction.
